Proud to be a Railroader!

Well, SA soundly defeated our Railroaders tonight by a score of 21-7, Bandon Porter delivered the only score of the night for GHS as he intercepted the ball and ran in for the touchdown. I was proud of our coaching staff for keeping a lid on the emotions during and after the game. I can say I know at least two Starfire families who have a lot of class and I am proud of them Dustin Wanner comes from a great family and he is a great young man. He is an exceptional athlete and he is first class all the way. I am also proud of my Sophomore Grandson #71 for the Starfires. Great work on special teams Klayton and we'll see you on Monday Night! I will always be proud of you.

I think it is so important to be able to lose with class and win with class. I am so happy that our Railroader Coaching Staff and players no how to do both. It would be great to see all teams make that a priority. Keep your heads up high Railroaders. We are proud to be Railroaders, YES, WE, ARE!

ACAC VB Champions!

Tonight the Volleyball team finished the ACAC Regular Season 6-1 and were in a 3 way tie on top of the ACAC. So, they are Co-Champions in the ACAC.  This is our first ACAC VB championship and our first conference championship since 1993. I guess we need another Banner!

Tonight they played a fantastic game, completely dominating a VERY good Heritage team, 25-17, 25-15, 25-12. We honored Jordyn Knott and Katie DePew before the game because of the records they have set this year. Katie DePew got her 1000th assist earlier in the season and Jordyn Knott got her 1000th kill last week. Both of these girls and senior Laura Moynahan have been major contributors to this program. Laura is close to breaking the single season record for digs (held by Katie Depew). Tonight all of these girls played with a lot of passion and never lost the momentum tonight!

We are so proud of these girls and wish them the best in the ACAC tournament next week. Roll Big Train!

Rain Rain Go Away!

The Soccer Field was flooded by over 4 inches of rain over the last couple of days. SO, the Boys Soccer game with Columbia City was cancelled.

The very first priority in determining wether to cancel a game or not, is the safety of our players. The general rule for soccer is NO STANDING WATER on the playing surface. We had lots of standing water on the field and it just did not appear to be safe for play. The Soccer Sectional is just too close and we can not afford any injuries. If we can't guarantee a safe playing surface we aren't going to play. Period!

Both teams agreed it was too late in the season to reschedule the game. So, the regular season is over.

In talking with Central Noble's Athletic Director, he checked their field and determined it was safe to play. Our girls will be playing there tonight. You just never know how one field will react to the rain. Their football field is swamped and they could not play a game. But, their soccer field, is ok. Go figure!

The fall sports season is in full bloom as well as the first grading period.  How are you doing so far?  Is it difficult keeping up with your work in the classroom and your sport?

Being a student-athlete is a big commitment.  The time involved with homework, practices, games, and other school and family obligations can pull you in a lot of different directions.

Stay in tune with your grades and know where you stand.  Don't wait until the last week of the grading period to do your best work because it might be too late.

6-0 -- One Game at a time!

The Big Train keeps rolling down the track defeating Woodlan 35-16. It was a little touch and go early when the Railroaders went down 10-0. Woodlan was able to get some big plays early but we made adjustments and rattled off the next 35 points. After giving up the final score late in the game the Railroaders were once again dominant.

Now comes the toughest challenge of the year when we take the Big Train down to Berne next Friday night with the showdown against the Starfires. SA has only lost to Leo and really put up a good fight against them. Let's make it 7-0 next week Railroaders! Focus on ONE GAME AT A TIME!

ROLL BIG TRAIN!
