The First EVER ACAC Indoor Track meet was held at the great IPFW "New" Indoor Track Facility tonight. First of all that is one great track venue and our conference was PRIVILEGED to hold our first ever conference indoor meet there.
The night started out a little slow due to a computer problem with the timing system. So the running events were delayed for over an hour. Once we got going the meet went smoothly and was great for our kids. We ended up with Four Girls Champions. Future Boilermaker, Jordyn Knott was a double champion winning the long jump and high jump events. Laura Moynahan took first in the shot put, and Ariel McCoy took first in the 3200. Our distance girls also won the Distance Medley Relay. Jordyn (LJ/HJ) and Laura (SP) qualified for the State Indoor meet next Saturday at Indiana Wesleyan.
The Boys also had a good night with Jaron Somers dominating the 3200 and qualifying for the state meet. Also Qualifying for the state meet were Drake Landes in the long jump and 55 hurdles. Todd Frickey qualified in the Long Jump and the 55m dash.
With this being an open meet, we had over 400 athletes participate. What a great way to get the track season underway. Congrats to all the coaches and athletes for there efforts tonight. I also want to thank the Garrett faithful for working this meet. Thanks Mark Ober, Geoff Getts, Larry Getts, Courtney Wisel, Rich Wisel, Charity Wisel, Mary Baker, Butch Oliver, and Tim Knott. Also a big thank you to Jim Baughman and his crew who made sure we got the times for every single athlete!
