Boys defeated by tough defense tonight at Leo!

The Boys first half tonight at Leo was as good a half of basketball as I've seen at GHS in a long time. We handled the ball well, we took great/smart shots, and we had the lead. We war out hustling Leo on both ends of the court. Sure, they shot the lights out at the 3 point line, but we didn't let it get to us and we kept the pressure on.  Leo went in to the locker room at halftime losing by a score of 39-34. They made a great adjustment and turned up the defensive pressure. We just couldn't overcome that tough defense. You put that with 42% shooting from the 3 point line and the final score says it all. Besides the defensive pressure we gave them WAY to many second and third chance points. You can't give good teams more shots. Garrett was defeated by a good Leo team for the second time this year. The final score was 79-67. The Lions outscored the Railroaders 45-28 in the second half. Several of those were off easy buckets off turnovers.

Joe Martin was 8 for 12 and led the team with 18 points. Drake had a tough shooting night, but still ended up with 13 points. Nobody else scored in double figures.

So, we take the next week to continue to work to get better. We out work the rest of the teams during practice and transfer that to the games. If we can do this. The outcome will be different next time.
