The Railroaders traveled to Adams Central tonight to take on the Flying Jets. Before making the trip to the "Hanger" in Monroe, I've heard a lot about this very talented Jet team. They have beat up on teams throughout the season and their only loss this season is to a very good Norwell team. I was also told they dunk the ball SEVERAL times a game. It looked like that was going to be the case tonight. The Jets got an early 1st quarter dunk and I thought, "Oh Boy." However, the Railroaders defense didn't allow another Jam the rest of the night. The Defense began to play like it had earlier in our season. They were pretty tough on the Jets.
The first half for the Railroaders was not good. We had 9 turnovers in the first two quarters and were soundly out rebounded. When you give a good team extra possessions, that's not good. At the end of the first half we were down 11 points. We knew we could play with them because we made a really good run to tie it 22-22 in the second quarter. But, the rest of the 2nd was all Jets.
We played much better in the second half, cutting down the turnovers (4) and ending the game with the rebounding edge. We still did not have a great offensive night and eventually lost the game 55-49. Brandon Porter came off the bench to lead the Railroader scoring with 11 points. We had some chances late when we wer only down by 2 points. We just couldn't get over the hump to take the victory.
It was very nice to see us bounce back after our loss to Central Noble. We played SO much better and now we can look forward to meeting the Lions at Leo on Tuesday Night. The ACAC tournament starts in Leo-Cedarville on Tuesday at 6pm for the girls and approximately 7:30pm for the Boys.
Good Luck Railroaders!
