Shut off the camera and see what High School Sport is about!

I can't say enough about the classy Garrett Football program. Coaches Frickey, Cole, Wisel, Hathaway, and Clifford have done a great job getting us to the sectional finals. Our senior class has been unselfish and have made sacrifices for one sole purpose...........to WIN. We've made some mistakes along the way that have cost us a couple of victories. But, no one has pointed fingers. Our coaching staff has a bigger goal than just winning a game. They have the goal of teaching through competition. Our coaches aren't satisfied with anything but the best out of our players. This effort will continue regardless of the outcome tomorrow night.  Every week the coaches and players have put everything on the line to win ball games, but more importantly this group has come together as a family, You don't mess with the family.

When outsiders who don't know Garrett and don't know our kids, don't know our town, and probably haven't even been to Memorial Field, start trash talking our team, They've gone to far.  You don't have to predict we'll win the game. You can talk about our weaknesses, every team has them. But, when you start trash talking from the Sports Department! That's wrong. It's unacceptable to use your position of power in broadcast sports to predict an outcome based on car accidents, and murder.

We are a character counts community, the only way we can respond is with respect, responsibility, and caring. We love our student-athletes. They are not highly paid professionals earning millions every year. They are not highly recruited College players who will get to earn their college education through sports. Our players, just love the game. They're High School Student Athletes who can't wait til Friday Night to put the pads on play the game. These players will go out and take that field tomorrow night with Railroader pride and they will do everything they can to win a football game. They won't need a car accident, they won't need a murder. All they need to do is show up and play. Garrett will play with the class and honor they have every week this year. We will leave the wins, losses and gruesome prognostications to the big shots in the news room! Shut off the camera and see what High School Sport is about!
